All of the information provided is considered sensitive and is used only as a tool to provide the best possible emergency services to the residents of the township. If you do not have access to a printer, copies of the form are available at police headquarters. Child Passenger Safety

The Township of Washington Police Department currently has three officers trained in child passenger safety. If you have any doubt about the proper installation and/or use of your existing car seat; if you need assistance installing a new car seat; if you need to change the position of a car seat due to the age and/or size of you child; we can help.  Call the police desk at 201-664-1140 and ask to make an appointment with one of these officers, or email us at For more information on child seat safety and the current laws that apply to children of all ages, visit the NJ Division of Highway Traffic Safety website.

Notice to residents: This agency will provide or arrange for the transportation of emergency medical personnel to area hospitals during severe weather conditions. Those residents requiring treatment for life threatening illness will also be transported when requested. Arrangements will be made by calling the Police Desk at 201-664-1140. If possible, please call two hours prior to the needed transport.
